I stumbled across this UK-based company which makes some really nifty utilities that windows users would find very useful. They are actually donation-ware where you can choose to donate any amount which you feel like but is otherwise free.
piriform means pear-shaped, which could also mean to go wrong. I suppose that's what the tools do, help you out when things go wrong with your computer.
They have 4 utilities at the moment with very unique names.
1. ccleaner - a comprehensive cleaning tool
2. defraggler - a defragmenting tool
3. recuva - a data recovery tool
4. speccy - system information tool
I've tried out ccleaner and recuva and I think they are great, partly because of the simple interface, speedy performance and also because it is very lightweight, about 2MBs for the lite version. Puny comparing to the supersizeme-bloated-gigabyte monsters of today's software.
The world needs more lean software like these. Looking forward to more tools from them in the future.
