House of Cards

A quaint little coffee place; House of Cards is set up with unassuming simplicity on the brick-paved Engineering Lane in Melbourne University. The main stall looks just like a large wooden crate with the sides opened up housing the baristas, 2 coffee machines and a cash register. Smaller versions make up the table and stools. My personal favourite is the cappuccino though I think the lattes are pretty good too.

When ordering, the cashier hands you an oversized poker card. You then return the card to one of the four boxes when you pick up your order. These boxes indicate to which charitable cause (namely environmental, social, cultural and medical) that a portion of the profits would go to. Just a little feel good-factor while enjoying your caffeine shot. Somehow, I have always dropped my cards in the environmental box.
