Sympathy

I was watching the Goo Goo Dolls performing live in Buffalo on DVD when somethin g that Johnny Rzeznik said before he started singing this song struck me. "... it is something we all need once in a while but should never ask for." Very well put I would say, and I certainly agree with him. Everybody needs a little sympathy once in a while but never in any circumstances should one demand or r equest to be sympathized with. I started listening to the Dolls since I was in highschool during the late nineties when they were making a big hit with Name . Name became the signature sound/style for their songs even till today: an acoustic guitar with unusual/non-standard tunings which is rhythmically strummed, alternating between open or partially open chords with some varying basslines. Having non-standard tunings allows chords to be voiced in the open or unfretted position with minimal note fretting thus giving the Dolls the characteristic full sounding or sometimes shim

My First Chronograph Watch

My Seiko Chronograph* I recently got this timekeeping piece as a birthday present, it's my first ever chronograph wristwatch. pENguiN~ thought that since I am always late for my appointments, a watch would prove useful to remind me to be on time (...NOT). She also said that, having a good wristwatch makes a man :P. Talking about making a man, a friend of mine (I'm not sure if he visits this blog :P) gave me this piece of advice some time back. Apparently he got it from his father. I still remember it because I felt it was quite true and seems practical enough. He said, "There are a few things that a man should make sure that he has, one of it is a pair of good shoes and another is a good wristwatch." I'm not sure if there are anything else that I might have forgotten, but I remembered that it left a lasting impression on me until today. That friend of mine lives by this advice, making sure that he always gets the best watch and shoes that he can afford. So doe

5 Obsessions

My first tag since I started blogging. Frankly, I've always thought these things are a little corny, but what the heck, there's a first time for everything. I'm supposed to reveal 5 things that I'm most obsessed with and I think I have to really try my best on this. 1. Tidyness - I have to admit, I'm a neat freak, I like everything to be in order. And having things in a less orderly fashion would somehow irritate/stress me out, makes me feel that something is wrong somewhere. It's something like the Roy Waller character played by Nicholas Cage in the Matchstick Men . But of course not to Roy's extent of having an OCD (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder) towards tidyness. He'll start to vomit and even have seizures whenever he sees things in a non-orderly fashion. Let's just say, like how Roy would put it "I've got things in a certain way, and that's it."
